Why St. Croix?
WE’RE GLAD YOU ASKED.
The St. Croix breed is native to the U.S. Virgin islands and named after the island of St. Croix. They are extremely parasite resistant and can withstand hot, humid Tennessee summers as well as frigid winters. They require no supplemental grains, and as long as good forage is available, they will thrive.
St. Croix sheep are excellent grazers as well, and we like to alternate our paddocks between cattle and sheep, as the two species are natural complementary grazers.
Put simply, they’re healthy, low-maintenance, and profitable.
